This week’s chapters have some pretty powerful quotes to think about.
1. On p. 89 Charlie says, “I know I’m no genius, but I can’t help the way I am.”
What does this quote mean to you? Elaborate on the message Sarah Weeks is trying to convey through Charlie, with this quote.
2. On p. 108 Alice thinks to herself, “Aunt Polly had been wrong, having an active imagination wasn’t a good thing at all.” What is your feeling about whether or not having an active imagination is useful? Explain. Do you have an active imagination? Describe.
3. On p. 122 when Alice is down on herself for the mean things she said to Charlie, for accusing Miss Gurke of being a catnapper, and for leaving the window open, she softly sings, “If I could make a wish right now I know what I would do. I’d wish to be some other girl and hope it would come true.”- When have you wished you were someone different? What was happening in your life that made you wish it? How did you get past that feeling?
